Today's Comic. [28 Feb 2006|03:54pm]

I know, I know, I'm horrid. Two characters smoking and not talking about it's dangerous effects on mankind! But it's actually something of James's background that I had scripted out well before the comic started, but didn't fit in until now.
This is another instance of character's stealing my attributes. I DO NOT smoke, however, the few times I've travelled to london, I've found myself horribly ill in pubs and clubs unless I have a cigarette (better described as a fag-no, not that way, you twat.) I only smoked 3 or 4 times on any given trip, and even then I couldn't stand american cigarettes- for god sakes, for those of you who do smoke them, WHY? The easiest reason why I never pick a cigarette up again is because you can't get Silk Cuts here in the States.
Also, expect to see James with a new hair cut (probably on friday) as he starts making Midori Sours and Dirty Hos (mmmmm, yum!) for the swinging cats on Newbury Street. I'llhopefully have an architectual drawing of the inside of the Black Cat up soon- it's based loosely on the Knitting Factory in New York and the 8x10 in Fells Point (both of which have taken way too much of my money).

I'm also going to be shutting down this community soon, replacing it with a simple live journal for all the notations and sightings for Yin & Yang. This way, folks can understand better what's going on in the comic, and can leave direct feedback on particular strips- not that anyone will, mind you.

Last but not least, I'll be at two show in New York City this month, The Benten Tokyo show featuring Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re, The Rodeo Carburettor, The Emeralds, Stance Punks, Pe'z, and Ellegarden, at the Knitting Factory on March 20th(just be careful if I've ordered Mexican Piss water, I get biligerent); and the Dir En Grey show at Avalon, March 21st. The latter show is the famous Japanese punk band's only east coast performance, so it's going to be wild; the former features my personal favs the Emeralds as well as Ellegarden, who actually speak great english and do fabulous Pillows covers. Show up with any Yin & Yang propaganda, and I'll sketch you something between sets. Buy me a drink, hell, I'll put you in the comic.

Oh, yeah. The stitches come out tommorrow.

Insomnia, now with bizarre half dreams! [14 Nov 2005|10:19am]

[ mood | distressed ]

So, where's today's comic? Half-done in my notebook, an unfortunate victim of my own devices.

As some of you may or may not know, I'm currently in the last semester of my Masters in Museum Education candidacy. This is includes my final class, Teaching Political Science and Political Philosophy (for those who don't know of Massachusetts stupidity in its teaching licensure, this is Teaching History)(3+ hours a week), my internship at the MFA (24+ hours a week), and my two days working downtown as an assistant manager. So I'm working an equivilent of 6 days a week in 5, and most of my weekends are attempts to catch up on sleep, and until yesterday when by the grace of god I found one, searching for a dress for my little sister's debut at the Baltimore Lecher's Ball (if you don't know, don't ask).

This might explain to some of you why recently the comic's been updating only once a week. To others, you fail to realize that unlike some gobshites I don't want donations- those are for people who can't sustain a living on their own. I love doing this comic, but I want to do what I love even more; and in order to do that, my Masters work comes first (although my advisor is suspicious about that...).

So the short of this whiney, rambling message is the comic will most likely be up tomorrow or Wednesday. Hopefully with a tee shirt design or two, and comission info, so anyone dumb enough to like my shit can buy it. And maybe pay my electric bill.

[ mood | excited ]

Just stopping by to say that I'm still around, and eagerly awaiting each new strip.

Argh! But what's happening to poor James! (Thank goodness Jess is there to help him!)

And the question of the day: Has anyone else noticed that Jess' "horns" seem to have a mind of their own? Curling and uncurling constantly in reaction to her mood? Sort of like a cat's tail? (Just thought it was a cool detail to Jess' new look.)

Oh, and awesome print of Mela and Falair, Jes!

So yes, today's comic is a 45 minute color gesture of Christo's "The Gates". It really is best in person- and I didn't get a swatch, the man had just run out. Trias with a PrismaColor (The dark orange- the rest was TRIAs). This is unfinished and VERY rough, so no beating me up- I just notice I forgot the iron wieght at the bottom. Whoop. 45 minutes because Steph, Matt and I were freezing our butts off, and the Met was closing and I needed my bags back. (They only had one poster- the prints were $400+, WAAAH). Expect photos soon.

This is a picture I'm considering making into a print. Like it? Hate it? Or would you prefer Robin and Kit?

[ mood | nauseated ]

Ok, so why no comic on Monday? In short, one of the gods up there decided thus: "Hey, that comic girl has two proposals and a paper due, let's just get her sick as all hell and pile a panic attack on top just for fun."
I swear one of these days, I'll figure out a karma shield. One of these days....

ALSO! Come this Saturday, say good bye to everything in the shop. It's going out, being trashed, getting fitted with concrete shoes. Now, I may have some substitutes, buuuut, that depends on interest. I was thinking mostly full color posters, and maybe one or two shirts, ranging along the lines of "Looking for a British Boyfriend", "Sometimes you want to have your harem and screw it too".

Bleh, out of me mind.....

UPDATE! [20 Jun 2004|11:17pm]

So I'm finally back. Yeah.

So what happened?

Well, that's both easy and hard to answer, but here's the short answer:

I graduated from Boston University with a European History and a Visual Arts Minor. Cum Laude.
I got accepted to 3 graduate schools for Museum Education Master's Program. I decided on Tufts University.

So? You say.

Well, let me go into detail.
My final semester of college, I took 6 courses instead of 4. 4 of them were incredibly difficult courses, being in fields I have not a lot of experience, but have a great amount of interest. I was vice-president and essentially in charge of a 40 person Amine group. I was being drained imaginatively, and not given a lot of time to work through this mental block. I also have to admit that I was dealing with rejection and relationships relatively poorly, which did not help.
So every week, I'd vow to do post something, work on art, or even talk to people, and I was too tired to put the effort to make time. So I slipped into a haitus from my online life. It took a month to get back this far.

So- blah. I'm getting back into the swing. My Deviant Art Site is updated with new art.

Yin & Yang will update this week.

February 14th update- a day early! [13 Feb 2004|01:34am]

[ mood | cranky ]

Keen's still being a whiny 'tard, but at least I can upload images now. Will have comics up for next week, I promise! And filler tuesday and thursday (Wallpapers will kick ass designs, as well as fanart updates) as an apologie. Though it's not my fault, honest.

A note on this comic- it's not really supposed to be specific, nor do I think the boys are at fault. This is just a allegory for some smegged up bits of life we go through. Particularly on V-day.
This also was a tablet excerise, so excuse the messy coloring.

Man, do I have the mother of head colds.

[ mood | confused ]

The comic doth update again.

I apologize to everyone, but it's been a helva week for me. School restarted, and I have a lot more hours of work a week- I'm taking the time equivilent of six classes for 4 and a half.
But hopefully as I get used to it, I can make adjustment and tweaks needed.
